12 Days of Christmas Cleaning (Days 10-12): A Cleaning Checklist to Help You Prep for the Holidays

Christmas is Coming! To help ease any holiday cleaning stress you may experience this time of year, our experts have come up with a 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Cleaning Checklist.

If you’re expecting company this year, or just want to get your home in order for the holidays, look no further. By focusing on one of these 12 areas of your home each day, you can break up the work into small chunks. Doing this will make your holiday prep less daunting, and give you one more reason to celebrate this year.

We wanted to give you some in depth tips this year, so we’ll be breaking this up into 3 parts:

• Days 1-5
• Days 6-9
• Days 10-12

Days 10-12 | High Traffic Areas During the Holiday Season

Day 10: Patio

Winter weather is one of the best parts of being in Phoenix. If you’re planning on taking advantage of the climate with your guests, be sure to give your patio a clean up. Sweep away any debris, leaves or dirt from the deck. Wipe down outdoor furniture and fluff any outdoor cushions. Finally, check that lighting is functioning properly and get ready to relax around the fire pit.

Day 11: Kitchen & Dining Area

Depending on your holiday traditions, the kitchen and dining room may just be the most frequented areas of your home this time of year. That’s why it’s so important to include these two spaces on your Holiday Cleaning Checklist.

In the kitchen, we suggest cleaning the sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher. You’ll also want to clear out the fridge to make some space for leftovers. Wipe down countertops as well as the stove. Take some time to organize the cabinets to make space for holiday treats. Finally, make sure you’re well stocked on trash bags for post-celebration clean up!

If you have a designated dining space, make sure table linens and serve ware are washed and ready for use. Wipe down tables and chairs. Straighten any wall decor and dust furniture. And, of course, don’t forget to vacuum or mop flooring!

Day 12: Computer Desk or Office Space

Due to COVID-19, this year’s holiday celebrations may look a bit different than in the past. If you and your family are keeping a distance this year, it’s likely that you’ll be celebrating remotely via video visits. If that’s the case for you this year, take some time to tidy the space where you’ll be having these calls. Wipe down any technology you’ll be using, and straighten any wall decor that will be in the background of your call. If you’re feeling extra festive, decorate your background with garland, ribbon and other holiday decor.
